On Wednesday morning, our patrollers collected 10 full blue bags of clothing and waste from the area above Plattekloof Road, where a regular group of vagrants are often seen staying at night. Despite efforts to locate them to assist with the clean-up, the team pushed ahead and transported the collected waste to the dumpsite.
We extend a huge thank you to our dedicated Wednesday morning patrollers for their ongoing hard work and commitment. Your efforts do not go unnoticed!
This also serves as a stark reminder to those who continue to support the vagrants frequenting the Plattekloof Shopping Centre area โ much of the rubbish and mess ends up in our open spaces, creating an ongoing and difficult battle for our patrollers to manage week after week.

Last nightโs standard patrol turned into something truly special โ 24 volunteer patrollers showed up last night, making it one of our biggest turnouts in recent memory!
We were also joined by the Armed Response teams from District Group and Zonewatch Security, whose growing involvement has become a vital part of our efforts.
Itโs incredibly encouraging to see our numbers rising โ not just because we all care deeply about keeping our neighbourhood safe, but also because weโre seeing real friendships and connections forming among our regular patrollers.
It must be said that thereโs real strength in numbers and as our team of dedicated residents grows, so does our confidence in the strong partnerships weโre building. Over the past few months, the presence of the armed response companies has been both reassuring and empowering, and weโre grateful to be working side-by-side with them more and more.
Safety, connection, and community โ thatโs what itโs all about.

01 Apr – Car battery stolen out of a Ford Figo in Kehrwieder Crescent in the early morning hours. They have not yet registered the case, still awaiting a case number.
31 Mar โ Panorama Doctors’ Rooms: Attempted theft of a laptop. Security recovered the laptop before it left the premises. One Charlie female and two Charlie males involved. CCTV footage obtained โ case opened.
31 Mar โ Uys Krige Street @ Panorama Vet: A battery was stolen from an employee’s vehicle parked outside the vet. CCTV footage obtained โ case opened.
01 Apr โ Rembrandt Crescent: A Charlie male was chased by residents after smashing a vehicle window. He dropped a suitcase and toolbox while fleeing. No further information available.
03 Apr โ Uys Krige Street @ Panorama Vet: An employee at Panorama Vet was robbed of her cellphone on her way into the practice. A vehicle was involved and has been flagged as a suspect vehicle. Case opened.
02 Apr โ Welgemeend Street: Early morning incident where a car door was bent open. Nothing was stolen.

22 March – Positive break-in was reported at a residence on Mon Repos crescent. The perpetrators gained access to the property by removing a window during the early morning hours.
– Panorama
22 Mar – Panorama Rd: Three unknown persons entered a property between 03:30 and 03:42. They opened windows and gates but did not enter the house, and nothing was stolen.
Their movement was caught on CCTV.
– Kleinbosch

There is still much to do, but we are proud of what we have accomplished and the incredible team behind it. Hereโs to a safer and stronger PWP!
This past weekend, a dedicated group of residents and City of Cape Town departments came together for an extensive cleanup operation, spearheaded by Riana De Wet and Paul Kruger. Over the course of two days, they removed a staggering three truckloads of waste, cleared hazardous materialsโincluding knivesโand once again witnessed firsthand the reality of the vagrancy issue in our neighbourhood.
With the assistance of a large Social Development team, every individual encountered was offered support, a place of safety, and the opportunity to turn their lives aroundโbut not a single person accepted the help. Instead, these individuals choose to remain in our area because they are supported by well-meaning residents who continue to provide them with clothing, food, and other resources directly. Unfortunately, much of this generosity goes to wasteโevidenced by the black bags of discarded clothes found abandoned in stormwater drains.
This is why we urge residents to stop handing out clothing and food directlyโinstead, please donate to registered shelters and organizations where those who truly want to rebuild their lives can receive structured support.
Despite the massive effort, some vagrants returned within hours, bringing back even more belongings. This reinforces why ongoing community involvement is essential. The Cityโs Law Enforcement Displaced Persons Unit (LE DPU), Solid Waste, and Social Development teams are working tirelessly, but without the support of residents choosing to donate responsibly, these problems will persist.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributedโwhether through hard labour , donating sandwiches, juice, or snacks for the EPW workers, or simply standing alongside us in this mission. Thank you to Goodwood Ratepayers and their cleanup team for joining us as well and learning from our operations.

16 Mar โ A residentโs domestic worker was attacked by an unknown whiskey male on a skateboard. He initially offered to walk with her for protection but soon became aggressive and attempted to sexually violate her. This incident occurred near Panorama Hospital and Northlink college.
18 Mar โA resident in President Swart Street reported that a suspect jumped over their wall, ran around the property, and the resident managed to pull the suspectโs backpack off. The suspect had a dark towel over his face, wore dark tracksuit pants, and a light-colored buff. He then fled up Park Street and turned left into Charles Stassen Street.
Due to the buff, identifying the suspect was difficult, but he appeared to be a short, plumpish whiskey male.
20 Mar โ Paarl Street: Attempted break-in. Just before 5 AM, a resident heard footsteps on the roof. A vehicle was parked some distance away. District Watch was called, and the suspects fled.
